We all use different products for various issues we have for our facial skin. But how many of us put thought into what kind of a body cleanser we use in the shower every day? Not many of us. It all boils down to whether you’re using a bar soap or a shower gel. At best we only wonder if the product in question would leave our skin dry or moisturized (yes, I do that too!). When we’re all in for trying out various facial cleansers, toners, masks, moisturizers, and serums for the face why do we neglect the rest of the body? How many times do we buy a product that actually cleanses the skin inside out? Not many I presume.
Yardley London’s Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Bath Bar is one product that claims to purify your skin! They have many variants of bath bars – Lavender, Oatmeal & Almond, Aloe & Avocado to name a few. Discovery of these bars came as a surprise to me since my initial memories of the brand have been that of an imported talc which had this heavenly rose fragrance and was a symbol of luxury in every sense.
The product claims “You hold in your hands the result of generations of uncompromising quality, superior craftsmanship and time-tested ingredients. Since 1770, Yardley bath bars have stood as a symbol of English luxury, and today, that tradition continues with soaps crafted with essential oils and moisturizing ingredients to smooth your skin and soothe your mind – like this Activated Charcoal Moisturizing Bath Bar. Charcoal is known for its ability to help draw out impurities and combines with bentonite clay to help purify and cleanse skin. A hint of stimulating spearmint essential oil uplifts your daily routine.”
Both Activated Charcoal and Bentonite Clay have healing properties and are great at drawing out toxins thus making them amazing deep cleansers for your skin.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH YARDLEY LONDON’S ACTIVATED CHARCOAL MOISTURIZING BATH BAR
I’ve been a shower gel type of person for the longest time I can remember primarily because I find soap bars too drying on my skin and it’s a hassle to get the soap scum off the bath floors. Come to think of it, I can’t remember when I used a soap bar last before this one.
I wasn’t expecting much before trying out the bath bar, to be honest. And I’m really glad that it exceeded my expectations!
I really liked the clean, fuss-free packaging of the product. As soon as I opened the pack, I got a whiff of this really invigorating minty fragrance, thanks to the spearmint and bergamot essential oils that have been added to it. There are no ‘feminine’ notes to the fragrance and hence it’s a good option for both men and women alike. For some reason the bar reminded me of those relaxing black stones that are used in a spa, making it even more inviting.
It had a luscious lather and I just fell in love with how refreshed this little bar left my skin feeling. I could feel the activated charcoal and bentonite clay working their magic as it seemed to breathe new life into my skin, and I could feel my pores open up, getting cleansed & purified. It did, however, leave my skin feeling a little dry but that isn’t a deal breaker if you follow it up with a moisturizer. Using the Yardley bar made the shower a very refreshing and uplifting experience for me – almost like a detox at a spa! As a bonus, I noticed my bacne had started clearing up after regular usage. Wait! There’s more! The moisturizing bar is also paraben, sulfate and cruelty-free along with being super affordable. I refrained from using the bath bar on my face since other charcoal products I’ve tried in the past have left my face feeling overly dry and tight. If you don’t have very sensitive or dry facial skin, you could try using it on your face to clear out acne there too.
I’m not sure if I would ditch my shower gels and switch them up for the Activated Charcoal Bar but I do know what to reach out for when my skin needs a great detox!

Wow this looks amazing to be used in summer season.
It indeed is great for the summers, might be too drying for the winters. Have you tried any other Charcoal soaps, Megha?
good to see SLS/SLES free soap..i will try to find this here in amsterdam 🙂
Even I am a shower gel person. I hardly use soaps. But don’t mind using a luxurious soap. Great that this soap from Yardley is free of SLS. I am anyway a big fan of their fragrances.

Yardley carries ‘decades long’ legacy.. a brand used by not just our fathers but also grand fathers.. amazing to see them evolvevolve as a brand and expand their offerings.

I agree with the fragrance bit, Amrit! They’re heavenly! And they have many variants in their soap category alone. Let us know if you do try out this soap.
True! I looked up their website and they have a lot more to offer, which I found to be really surprising especially after all these years.

This is the first time I have come across a bathing bar that is made of charcoal! Unfortunately, while my face is very oily, my body is very dry and this product may dry it out further.
Really? There are tonnes of them out there. Since it’s moisturising, you could maybe give it a try?
This charcoal bar really looks impressive, be it wrt ingredients or be it wrt it’s skin friendly properties . I’ll certainly try it out.

Never knew Yardley makes bathing bars. I have always been a fan of that brand. This is so super affordable as well. Will surely give this a try.
Yeah, I always thought they’re the talc, deco etc. brand. I was surprised too about their bars!
Charcoal bathing bar sounds great.. But the only reason is it makes skin dry and i have dry skin type already..
That’s one downside of using charcoal laden products. Well, Yardley does claim it to be moisturizing… But I found it to be drying for my skin. You won’t know until you give it a try though.
Charcoal bar looks amazing. I would love to try this sometime. Charcoal works wonders for skin
Yeah Khushboo. It detoxes your skin like nothing else!
