Aromatherapy has been around for thousands of years however, there’s been an increase in its practice very recently. Aromatherapy is normally used in two ways – inhalation and topical application. It is an alternate therapy that uses essential oils to promote health and well-being. Essential oils are natural plant extracts made from flower, herb and tree parts – like bark, roots, peels and petals. So, they’re all natural and aren’t blended with any chemicals or additional fragrances.
The number of essential oils available in the market are many and each essential oil has its own unique usage and healing properties. For example, basil oil helps in increasing concentration, lavender oil enhances relaxation and sleep while rosemary oil eases respiratory congestion and helps you breathe better. There’s a lot of debate on the effectiveness of essential oils and their ability to promote healing of any kind. They maybe supplemental but can’t replace the regular medical treatments for serious ailments.
We have a soft spot for aromatherapy and all things that smell divine! We try getting our homes to smell nice by using scented candles, reed diffusers, homemade essential oils mists and diffusing various oil blends. An essential oil blend of lavender and sweet orange diffused throughout the night helps us in sleeping better and waking up refreshed. From our experience, we feel essential oils do help in relaxing the mind and uplifting your spirits and that’s why we’re always on the lookout for essential oil recipes that can be used on a daily basis. However, this love for essential oils is rather expensive and can burn big holes in pockets. Quality oils come at a hefty price tag. For many recipes you need a minimum of two oils and the costs tend to add up very quickly. Before you realize, you end up spending a fortune on them. That’s the price you pay for going all natural! Not anymore though as Simply Earth is here to the rescue.
Simply Earth is a monthly subscription box with essential oils, fun recipes and all the ingredients at a fraction of the cost that you can order from the convenience of your home.

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH SIMPLY EARTH SUBSCRIPTION BOX
We got to try out the September box from Simply Earth. The pretty aqua box looked quite deceptive in size, but it was super heavy. We were pleasantly surprised as to how many things were packed in the box.
The Big Bonus Box contained:
- Coconut oil tub – 6 oz (170g)
- Almond oil (sweet) bottle – 4 fl oz (118 ml)
- Coconut oil (fractionated) bottle – 4 fl oz (118 ml)
- Beeswax – 2 ounces
- Empty Rollerball bottles – 6 nos.
- Empty 5 ml bottles – 6 nos.
The Essential Oil Recipe Box contained:
- Bumps & Boo-boos Oil – 15 ml
This blend is specially made to improve your skin’s appearance. It is best used for irritated skin after bug bites.
- Cedarwood Oil – 15 ml
Warm and rich in aroma, Cedarwood Essential oil is great for respiratory support and helps tone down oily skin. It is also a great pick-me-up for days when you feel down.
- Cypress Oil – 15 ml
Old cemeteries often have Cypress trees planted near headstones because the scent was believed to bring comfort to the grieving. Today this essential oil is still used to calm and support emotional stability.
- Tangerine Oil – 15 ml
Its scent is refreshing and uplifting, but did you know that tangerine also relieves queasy stomachs and supports the immune system? Definitely a great addition to your collection!
- Empty 5 ml bottle
- A handmade kiddie bracelet – Bonus item. Made by Haitian artisans with Haitian materials.
- Recipe Cards – 6 nos.
The box had fun activities – Bumps & Boo Boos Roll On, Calming Sock Bun, Calming Natural Playdough, Fall Fresh Diffuser Blend, Jewelry Diffuser Recipe, Scented Sensory Rainbow Beans. There were recipe cards explaining how to go about each activity. Most of the activities revolved around kids as that was the theme for September. It’s a great way for parents to spend some quality time with their kids while making all these fun things. We weren’t very kicked about the activities since we don’t have kids (although they can be used with nieces and nephews). However, we did use the Fall Fresh Diffuser Blend recipe in our essential oils diffuser and it was a nice fall scent that kept the house smelling fresh.
What we really love about Simply Earth is that not only they strive to make your home all natural, but they are good Samaritans too! A percentage of their profits go to organizations that fight for social causes such as human trafficking, child prostitution and slavery to name a few. For the month of September, they were partnering with Exodus Cry – an international non-profit organization that works to end sex trafficking.
If you love essential oils as much as we do, you’ll love the box from Simply Earth! It is a great value box with the essential oils and all the goodies you need to make the recipes. If you were to buy all these individually, you would spend a crazy amount of cash. If the world of essential oils is new and seems overwhelming to you, Simply Earth is a great way to get started and explore if you want to go all natural (you can cancel the subscription anytime if it’s not what you’re looking for). And if you’re an essential oils enthusiast, it’s a great way to add to your existing collection. All in all, it’s a win-win subscription box!

CAUTION: Essential oils should never be applied to the skin directly. They must always be diluted in a carrier oil (such as almond, coconut or olive) or water if you’re inhaling them since they are very potent. If you’re prone to allergies easily, always do an allergy test before trying out a new oil and discontinue use if any form of allergic response is observed.
