My hair is rather dry, but my scalp tends to get oily and greasy super easily, thereby resulting in limp oily hair. And with summer here in full swing, my hair gets flat and extra greasy in no time. I avoid products that could make my hair oily and also need products that will help remove the oil. I picked up Park Avenue Beer Shampoo hoping it will help with the excess oil while still adding bounce and volume my hair needs.
The product claims to “This shampoo contains real beer which is famed to have excellent conditioning properties. Use Park Avenue Beer Shampoo regularly to leave your hair bouncy, shiny and full of volume.”

My Experience with Park Avenue Beer Shampoo
Beer is known to be good for hair. In fact I have tried using flat beer as a hair rinse and while I liked how it added volume to my hair I wasn’t too keen on the fragrance. I decided to try the next best thing, use hair products infused with the goodness of all that beer has to offer. I picked up Park Avenue Beer Shampoo with all the enthusiasm I could muster. Apart from my excitement to try this shampoo, nothing else was up hill. Right from when I opened the bottle for the first time everything seemed to fall flat. For starter the cap didn’t close properly, right after the very first time I opened the bottle. I told myself maybe the packaging got damaged in transit. The first time use was exciting as very little shampoo was required and for those who like lather, this bad boy lathers amazingly. I was amazed at how easily Park Avenue Beer Shampoo was able to remove oil and dirt from my hair.
Every time I use a shampoo for the first time, I put it through what I call the no-conditioner challenge. I need to know how this shampoo will fare, if I didn’t have time to condition and I don’t like frizzy surprises. I towel dried my hair and went about my business and forgot about it for a while. When it was time for me to get ready, I noticed my hair had a mammoth of a frizz. I have never seen my hair so disheveled and frizzy. I was shocked. I ran a brush through my hair and hoped it would tame my hair and I wouldn’t have to step out of the house looking like a grizzly bear. The brush did its best but it still wasn’t enough. I had to use a lot of serum to tone down my hair. So the shampoo failed my challenge. The next time I used the shampoo I ensured I used a lot of conditioner and it managed to tame down the frizz but it wasn’t enough. I used my trusted Body Shop Banana Conditioner and even this wasn’t enough. I can clearly state that the shampoo is just too damn drying. Not to forget that the shampoo is loaded with SLS. Unless you have super oily hair, I would suggest skipping this. I up picked up this shampoo early last year when there weren’t so many variants available. I’m not sure if I would try the other variants, but I am sure I wouldn’t give the original a buy again.

My hair totally hates this shampoo.
The first few lines of your post are perfect explanation of my hair situation ? I like the packaging of this shampoo but the product inside it doesn’t seems worth it! Nice review.:)

Thank you Anamika. This is definitely a dry monster. Unless someone has super duper oily slick hair, this shampoo will definitely be drying.
i have used this and it was drying and made my hair frizzy as well. Due to sls, it does clean well though; but that is something i am trying to avoid:)

I had the same experience Jennifer. I’m not sure what I am going to do with the rest of the shampoo.
Well, that’s different! Interesting approach though. Too bad it left your hair frizzy. I’ve never tried any beer products in my hair. Like you said I’m not big on the fragrance.

My nose is super sensitive and this product was quite blah and it made my frizzy beyond control.
Such a disappointing product. Well reviewed, Sangeeta.

I hate beer but if this helps with hair, then I will definitely start loving beer. I haven’t heard of beer for hair before, thanks for introducing this eye opener for me!
I’ve tried flat beer as a hair rinse and it made my hair super soft and added loads of volume. Really works wonderfully. But this beer shampoo was too blah.
I am using this product now… it is ok… but it makes hair a bit dry I feel… beer is good for hair I hear because of protein or something…

I feel using flat beer is definitely millions times better than this shampoo.
Sangeeta I was really keen to try this beer shampoo but after reading your review I will rather drop the idea. My hair is super oily and super frizzy too so this shampoo doesn’t fit in my need. Hope it would have worked for you.
