Neutrogena Radiance Boost Hydrogel Mask

In today’s fast-paced life, who has the time to take hours off to pamper yourself at a spa or go to a salon for a facial?! Additionally, there are the hassles of getting an appointment per your convenience at your favorite salon. But you can avoid all of that at a fraction of the cost and at the convenience of your own home. How, you ask? Read on.

Presenting the new Neutrogena Mask Collection. These masks come in two convenient options – Hydrogel Sheet Masks and Single-Use Mask Shots. As of now, the masks are available in the following variants:

Deep Clean (purifying) – Sheet Mask and Mask Shot

Hydro Boost (hydrating) – Sheet Mask and Mask Shot

Radiance Boost (brightening) – Sheet Mask

My skin could use some brightening, so I chose to review the Radiance Boost Hydrogel Mask today.

The product claims “This innovative hydrogel mask, infused with Vitamin B3, replenishes your skin’s moisture to help brighten and boost skin’s radiance. This is no ordinary sheet mask. This mask is made from a unique 100% hydrogel material. It contours to your skin and seals in the formula for optimal absorption to deliver clinically proven results. Your skin is left looking luminous, even toned and radiant.”

ABOUT THE HYDROGEL SHEET MASKS

  • Innovative technology from South Korea fuses nourishing essences with a polymer derived from seaweed to form a translucent, flexible sheet.
  • Easy to apply, wear and remove. Hydrogel conforms to the contours of the face.
  • The mask creates a barrier, helping intense hydrators and other ingredients work with skin.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH NEUTROGENA RADIANCE BOOST HYDROGEL MASK

My skin is super sensitive, and I tend to breakout easily. Hence, I’m very cautious about the products I use. On using some Neutrogena products in the past, I’ve had bad breakouts and since then I’ve been wary of using their range of products. With my fingers crossed, I set out on a mini mask adventure! However, I was pleasantly surprised this time around.

Just as any sheet mask, it must be applied to the face after discarding the white backing. The pack had two separate parts of the mask for the upper and lower face. It’s a translucent gel mask that has the goodness of nourishing essences which are amazing for your skin. It has a pleasant fragrance leaning more towards the floral notes, but it isn’t overwhelming by any means. The gel makes the mask very gooey and along with the serum it tends to get extremely slippery. It felt slimy in my hands (in fact I almost dropped mine in the basin). The slippery texture made it a bit messy to apply, and I had to spend some time aligning it properly and getting it to stay on my face. But once it was on, it felt like a yummy layer of jelly on my skin. The hydrogel makes the mask stretchy and it conforms to the contours of your face as opposed to a paper or cloth sheet mask which might end up tearing if you tug at it too much!

Since I wasn’t in a rush, I waited for a good 30 mins (you can keep the mask on for anywhere between 15-30 mins as per the directions) to reveal a much luminous face in the mirror! Even though this variant wasn’t specifically meant for hydration, my skin felt super hydrated, soft and supple. It brightened my overall skin tone too. Thanks to the Niacinamide that has all the brightening properties. It had lots of precious serum left over in the pack which I just ended up applying all over my face and neck after removing the mask. A little tip here – in case you’re left with too much serum, you could use it to apply on dark elbows or store it in a small container and refrigerate it. That way you get to pamper your skin with all the goodness on another day at another time!

    1. I really wish I could send them to you, Megha. But I guess the friend-sister-relative route will work best.

    1. I ran a search for you to see if folks in India could buy these online. Found the mask shot (pack of 12) on Amazon India and it’s rather expensive there. If you have someone traveling from the US anytime, you can include these in the shopping list 🙂
