A little sun here, a little sun there, summery fun all the way. It is sometimes nice to bask in the glory of our very own star – The Sun. It provides us with much-needed Vitamin D, wakes us up and overall brightens our day. But a little too much can be bad for us. Sunscreens ensure we stay in the sun without damaging our skin. Read more to find out how L’Oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence works on my oily skin.
The product claims to “Our Most Complete UV shield
Anti-UV: Formulated specifically for Asian skin, the advanced Mexoryl XL Filter provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection for 12H.
Anti-Oxidant: With Vitamin E, which reinforces the skin to fight against free radicals and slow down skin aging.
Anti-Aging: Enriched with Adenosin, a renowned anti-aging ingredient, which helps to strengthen premature skin aging.
Texture: Encapsulated in an ultra-light watery essence, which melts on skin and is quickly absorbed for a light refreshing effect. It lets the skin breathe and makes it supple and smooth. Non-sticky, non-greasy, it leaves a velvet and invisible finish.
Result: Skin is protected against signs of photo aging (brown spots, darkening, loss of elasticity, wrinkles) and external stress. Day after day, skin stays visibly fair and young.”
MY EXPERIENCE WITH L’OREAL UV PERFECT AQUA ESSENCE SPF 30
I am not a big fan of sunscreens, mostly because I forget to use them. But, they are a must. We are constantly exposed to Sun’s harsh rays and we need to protect our skin from the damages of prolonged sun exposure. L’Oréal’s UV Perfect sunscreens got me excited because it was aqua based. Having oily skin, most sunscreens make my face very oily easily. I was hoping that the UV Perfect Aqua Essence would fit the bill perfectly.
The sunscreen comes in sturdy plastic packing. The sunscreen itself is a pale white runny liquid. I found that it moisturizes the skin well along with providing protection against UVA & UVB. While the sunscreen gets absorbed easily into my skin, it did leave sheen on my face – but I was happy it was very less compared to my favourite Neutrogena sunblock. The sunscreen did not irritate my skin or break me out. It works well under makeup as well. Neither did it leave a white cast on my face.
While I am overall happy with this sunscreen, it is quite expensive for the quantity you get. The brand also claims that the sunscreen provides 12H protection – this is a little too far-fetched. Sunscreens need to be reapplied every 3-4 hours and this further depends on this harshness of sunlight and duration of exposure. Apart from this I am quite happy with this. If you don’t mind shelling out a bit for a sunscreen do give L’Oreal UV Perfect Aqua Essence a try.
THE GOOD
- Sinks into the skin easily
- Moisturizes skin & protects against UVA & UVB
- Did not break me out or irritate my skin
- Travel friendly easy to use packaging
- Can be used under makeup
- Does not leave a white cast
- Paraben free
THE BAD
- May not suit oily skin well
- 12 hour claim is a little too far-fetched – this will depend on harshness of sunlight and duration of exposure
- Expensive for the quantity
- Opaque packaging makes it difficult to see how much of the product is remaining

Sure is. But I am continuing my lookout for matte sunblocks.
Great review Sangeeta! I also used the even complexion one in this range and it was too oily for my combination skin. My dermatologist suggested Fixderma Shadow sunscreen 80 SPF and it has become my HG product. It moisturizes but has complete matt finish, Do try it out…its great.

Thanks Shruti. Just noticed it’s available on Flipkart. Will definitely give it a try.
It’s so hard to find good quality sunscreen for oily skin. Most looks ashy on my skin

I agree. Some sunscreens feel like slathering oil on my face.
I totally agree to your points. I did try this. it was good but then I have combination skin so may be it was not the best because of that. But love how it doesn’t leave any white cast on the face. Love your review 🙂
Thanks Astha. The no white cast is a big Yay.
Thanks for the review. Have a good day.

Thank you 🙂
I’ve used a few Lotus sunscreens. Liked some. Haven’t tried Cetaphil though. Saw Cetaphil sunscreens at Health & Glow, they seemed a little expensive.
I love lotus sunscreen gel which is my hg…this is good option for less humid days but on hot and humid day it makes my oily zone a bit sticky 🙁

It does make the face oily, but it is not very bad.
Me too. But I find it heavy for my face. Makes it oily.
Well reviewed. A lot of dry skinned beauties love this one.

Thank you Priyanka. I agree this will suit dry skinned beauties well.
Such an apt review. I use the same one. Used to use the neutrogena one earlier.
Even though its oily I prefer Neutrogena sunblock as it is heavy duty.
Loreal is always priced on the higher side. Anyhoo this lools decent with a simple packaging.
It is easy to carry along. Wish it worked better for my oily skin.
