There is something quite pretty about a colourful transparent bar of soap. Instead of rambling let’s start off by discussing glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant, which means it has the property to attract and retain moisture. In soaps, glycerin is a natural by-product of the soap making process. Most glycerin soaps contain alcohol. The alcohol ensures the soap doesn’t crystallize. Since alcohol is drying in nature there is additional glycerin added to counteract the dryness.
If your skin generally tends to be dry like mine you can consider using glycerin soaps. While they are generally gentle on the skin if you have sensitive skin it is best to do a patch test before using. Unlike normal soaps, glycerin soaps don’t suck out the natural moisture and work well for both dry and oily skin. Glycerin is non-comedogenic thus making it a good option for people with acne or any form of inflammation. Cons really come down to the ingredient mix found in the soap, also, most glycerin soaps tend to disintegrate or dissolve faster which is a property of the glycerin molecule.
Now let’s get into the review on FabIndia’s Glycerin Soaps.
EXPERIENCE WITH FABINDIA GLYCERIN SOAP
This is going to super quick and brief review.
FabIndia’s glycerin soap comes in so many variants and I got to try:
- Mint
- Orange Neroli
- Wildrose
- Lemongrass
- Cocoa Butter
- Shea Butter
There are so many things about FabIndia’s Glycerin soaps that I love – They are super colourful and look insanely pretty. They smell absolutely divine – each fragrance is true to its name and smells good but isn’t overpowering, but sadly the fragrance does not last too long . It cleanses the skin well without drying out my sensitive dry skin which I absolutely love. In terms of the different variants, apart from the fragrance we could not notice any significant difference. The only con I see with these soaps is that they dissolves very quickly, VERY QUICKLY. Each soap lasted me only a matter of days. Both my husband and I used these 6 soaps and it barely lasted us 1.5 months, thus making it not so economical. They also become quite gooey if by mistake there is a bit of water stagnant in the soap dish. Even though I hate that the soaps dissolve quickly I definitely wouldn’t mind picking them up again as my skin loves them.
Have you tried soaps glycerin soaps? Which one is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.
THE GOOD
- Smells mild and refreshing
- Cleanses well
- Doesn’t dry out the skin
- Comes in multiple variants to choose from
THE BAD
- Dissolves very quickly
- Fragrance doesn’t last long
- Not exactly economical as it doesn’t last long
