I’m pretty sure you’ve heard enough number of people suggesting drinking some water as they claim it makes the skin young, glowing and supple. Many a time, our skin gets dehydrated which makes it look more dry and wrinkled. This can be improved with proper hydration and those 8 glasses of water. But, not all of us can can say “bottoms up” to that much water with ease. You may ask is there an alternative to drinking that much of water everyday? I would say the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief comes close enough. Read on to know why I think so.
Moisturizers are an essential part of the daily skin routine and many of us are on a quest to find that perfect one which works best with our skin. I was lucky to have chanced upon Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief and now I can’t live without it. I’d first tried it as a sample on recommendation of the skin consultant at Clinique. Initially, I thought she was just pushing me to buy an expensive product but that opinion of mine quickly changed after the product trial. I instantaneously knew that this was one product I absolutely HAD to pick up the next time I visited the store.
The product claims to “Rapid, long-lasting hydration in a refreshing oil-free gel. Fast-absorbing formula with active aloe delivers a burst of moisture. Smooths, softens, plump up fine dry lines. Locks in moisture all day. Helps skin better resist dehydration despite drastic shifts in humidity. Use whenever, wherever needed, under or over makeup. Or as a 5-minute moisture mask.”
My Experience with Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
The name of the product is what had caught my attention initially. After all, your skin does tend to get thirsty just as your body does. On opening the jar of this light pink moisturizer, I got a very faint medicinal kind of smell as its fragrance free. I love the fact that this product comes in the form of a lightweight cream-gel. On my first usage, my skin soaked in the moisturizer almost immediately and felt refreshed as if it had just drunk a glass of water. It leaves a bit of a cooling sensation on the skin once you put it on. My skin felt super plump and velvety to touch without leaving any greasy residue or clogging my pores. The redness and inflammation I had sometime ago has also minimised with regular usage.
I use only a teeny-weeny bit of the product to moisturize my face and neck completely. A little bit goes a long way and lasts me for a good 3-4 months (that’s using it twice a day) which helps as it’s quite pricey. One major downside is that this moisturizer doesn’t come with a SPF and you might want to use a sunscreen over it to protect yourself from the sun.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief can be used at anytime be it day or night and in any season be it summer or winter. Its suitable for all skin types too! Like I mentioned earlier, water is good for your skin and this product really lives up to that. If you’re looking for a perfect moisturizer and are willing to spend those extra bucks, your search might just end here (just as mine did). However, do try out a sample before going all in and purchasing the jar.
The Good
- Suitable for all skin types

- Quickly absorbed by skin

The Bad

- Extremely Pricey
- Jar packaging isn’t very hygienic
Overall Verdict: 4 / 5

I love them too, Himanshi! But I need to restrain this love else I’ll be burning a big fat crater in my pocket! 😀
Nice review! texture looks interesting and quite apt for combination skin. Pricey though, but it is Clinique after all 🙂

Thanks Anurima! Yeah, Clinique is extremely pricey. I always get samples for trial and make the purchase only when I’m truly convinced.
Aww I didn’t know they provide samples! Never tried out anything from Clinique! Thanks for the info girl 🙂

You’re welcome! 🙂 They usually have sachets of most of the products else they would give it to you in tiny containers.
Never tried Clinique stuff before. This one is gr8 for dry skin.

It works for all skin types 1, 2,3 and 4. At least that’s what was mentioned on the box. What type of skin do you have?
combination.

It should work well for your skin type. You can consider giving it a try if you like.
I totally agree that water is essential for total body moisture. It’s great when you can find a product to supplement nature’s process!

Go for it Anubhuti! It’s okay to splurge on a couple of products once in a while as long as you aren’t addicted to it 😀 What say?
It has dimethicone. it is better as a primer than a moisturiser. The product looks good though!
True, it works well as a primer too because it evens out the skin. It’s more like a multi-use product.
It would be perfect for my extremely dry skin but price is really high. Nice review.

I’ve used this one as well and I must say that despite the jar packaging – which I am never a fan of – I really liked it.

That’s awesome! Glad you like the moisturizer too. Are you a regular user or was it a one time purchase?
Love the consistency. I am huge fan of such thin consistency moisturizers..

I use Collistar Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I love it because it’s very hydrating, but not heavy at all. Perfect for my oily skin!

Nice review. Looks like a great product
Thanks Anita!
Too bad that it costs so much.
That’s one of the not-so-great things about the product. I don’t know if they would ever drop their prices but there’s no harm in hoping they would!
Luxurious packaging makes fall for the product. Great review.

I hate to admit that Clinique products are always effective on my skin. But, I have stopped purchasing them since they burnt a hole in my pocket 🙁 But they are too hard to resist too.

Ha-ha.. That’s true about all Clinique products. What’s your favorite amongst all of them?
I love their makeup remover and Cleansing balm from the Take the day off range.
Sounds interesting! Will probably try it out sometime.

That’s awesome, Preethy! How was your experience with it? I don’t like the fact that it doesn’t have SPF but the moisturizer works so well for me that I’m okay with ignoring that bit too.
