Sometimes, an apple a day is not enough to keep the doctor away. Especially during the monsoon and winter seasons when a bevy of bacteria and infections are at large. But, are you wondering why only a few people fall ill during this time?
Well, the answer lies in the fact that some people have low immunity and are unable to properly fight the germs and other viruses that attacks our bodies. However, this can change by feeding your body certain foods that have the necessary vitamins to boost your immunity. For this, all you need to do is visit the grocery store and buy the following products:
Yoghurt: Yoghurt, especially Greek yoghurt, is full of probiotics or healthy bacteria that keep your digestive tract free of disease-causing germs. When you’re selecting a yoghurt, remember to stay away from the ones loaded with sugar because, excess sugar is like your body’s kryptonite.
Red Bell Peppers: These vegetables are not just used to add flavour or colour to your meals, but also tonnes of vitamin C. In case you didn’t know, red bell peppers contain more vitamin C than most citrus fruits and they help boost your immune system.
Garlic: These little immunity boosters are added in almost every cuisine around the world. They contain allicin, a sulphur-containing compound that is known to strengthen your immunity and lower your blood pressure too!
Ginger: Ginger has already proved its worth and therefore, we immediately turn to it whenever we are down with a sore throat or other inflammatory diseases. Besides this, ginger can also decrease chronic pains and recharge your immune system.
Broccoli: Most people are in a love-hate relationship with this superfood because of its taste. But, if you are looking for one food item that can make your immunity system strong, it’s without doubt broccoli.
Spinach: Remember Popeye, the sailor man? If you do, you would know his legendary love for spinach, which was also his secret superfood weapon. After all, these greens are loaded with vitamin A, vitamin C, antioxidants and beta carotene that increases your body’s germ-fighting ability, keeping you healthy.
Almonds: If you like almonds, you should sprinkle them on top all your meals. These nuts contain vitamin E and healthy fats that are essential for your body to fight germs and bacteria.
Mushrooms: Want a healthy immune system? Choose mushrooms. Studies show that this ancient superfood increases the production of white blood cells, which makes your immunity system stronger.
Shellfish: Selenium is an essential micronutrient found in shellfish such as oysters, crabs, and clams. These help white blood cells produce cytokines that help eliminate flu viruses from your body.
While adding these healthy foods to your diet is important, so is living a healthy life and investing in a good health insurance plan be it a comprehensive health insurance policy or critical illness policy. These kind of insurance policies will help you out financially when you find yourself under the weather and in need of help from a doctor. Once you buy health insurance, you won’t have to worry about the increasing cost of healthcare. Plus, in today’s digital world, you can easily purchase online health insurance policy– right from the comfort of your home.

Thank you, Sajid 🙂
Garlics and mushrooms have always been my go to superfoods, since when I can’t remember. My mom made sure of that. She believed so much in disease prevention rather than curing it with pills. It’s so beneficial right and i hope to carry on the tradition
Prevention is always better than cure 🙂
Spinach is my favorite!!
