Staying beautiful doesn’t come cheap! In fact, while for many of us the price of our favorite beauty products is a small one to pay for the self-esteem boost we receive, we do wish we could get away with spending just a little less. While this might seem like wishful thinking, it doesn’t have to be. There are actually a number of simple things that anyone can do to reduce the cost of their personal beauty regime.
Here are some of the ways we’ve discovered for keeping our costs down and cutting back on needless spending.
Use Existing Products
How many of you, and be honest, have a whole drawer full of abandoned, half-used makeup, lipstick, and other cosmetics? Most of us are guilty of this. For whatever reason, we lose interest in a product we have already bought and so we discard it. In some cases, there may be some creative ways of using the products you have left. Or, you could always ask a friend if they would be interested in swapping some of their unwanted products.
Sometimes we are paying more money than we need to for an expensive branded product when a cheaper alternative would do just as well. Basic consumer psychology tells us that when we buy a more expensive product, we feel as if we are getting a better quality product, even though this isn’t necessarily the case.
If you are willing to step outside of your comfort zone and give another, less well-known, brand a chance, you might be surprised at the results. You won’t know until you try!
Online shopping has been revolutionary for just about every industry you can think of. Not only has online shopping made buying stuff much more convenient, it also allows us to gain access to products and services that would otherwise be much more expensive, if not out of reach altogether.
When it comes to buying your beauty products, shopping online makes a lot more sense. The only major drawback is that you can’t try the products before you buy. This might be a deal breaker for something like lipstick, but something like purifying shampoo, which can’t be tested beforehand anyway, is an excellent candidate for online buying. With other products, ones that you do want to try before buying, once you can work out what your preferred brand is, you can then order those products online at a lower price.
Look Out for Sales (and Samples)
When sales are on, the price of products in brick and mortar retail stores can sometimes be as good as the online prices. Always be on the lookout for upcoming sales with your favorite retailers. When you are browsing beauty products in a store, if there are free samples available, take advantage of them.
Buying beauty products can get expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. As long as you remember these basic tips and tricks, you will be able to greatly reduce your cosmetics bill.
